VoIP is here to stay

Allthough there are still some catches here and there, VoIP is here to stay.

1. The cheapest way.

If it is just low cost you are after, try installing a SIP VoIP softphone. (SIP is just the protocol, Session Initiation Protocol, dont worry) Express Talk is free and has a beter soundquality.
This is the software on your computer that transforms your speaking into bits and bytes ready for the internet.
Now you need a Sip Service Provider that will make it more easy to make internet-to-internet calls and free where possible to make internet-to-landline/mobile calls.
VoipStunt has the most free connections.
They have their own SIP phone. You have to install that first to signup with their service. Install, write down the settings, install and use Express Talk.

2. Near total freedom.
Buy one of those mobile ip-phones like the
Zyxel P-2000W.
they do cost some, but in the longrun it pays itself back, near to zero phonebills.
Signup with a Sip Service Provider like above to be able to call to normal phones.
Otherwise to do the same as this little telephone, you would need a laptop computer equipped with wireless, a headset and the appropriate software.
Or a wireless pda with special software like SJ phone

3. Browser to Browser.
Its like surf to the internet and just talk. No installations etc.
The Switchboard

4. The easy way.
try some service like skype.
msn is also out there, as is google

Örnprodukter makes a little script called SkypeCall for on your website to make it easy to connect to skype. my thanks for his information on VoIP.
