Clutch bag, the Vario bag

Clutch bag, the Vario bag Designed by Eva Vorkoeper,
the Vario bag is one of my best purchases in 2007.
After buying and using one, i decided to contact the designer. Some exerpts from my mails.
Here is their website, have a look at their interesting designs
http://ev-onscreen.de/

this summer i was already thinking how to design a functional handbag.
as it is a bit unortodox for guys, my mind started to work,
and thought of 2 possible poducts i could make for myself.

then, 2 weeks later on holiday in paris,
i found your COOL product in a shop in le marais.

phone, wallet, keys, passport.
you try to carry it around in your pants. or jacket.
(did you ever do that, wear a jacket with the breastpockets full? it
is like someone is puling you down behind the neck)
you want a place for all your stuff

no use in making it anymore.my self. i bought it. happy customer ever after.

i only wear the variobag opened like on the foto of the folder. not like a handbag.

some notes though.

1. safety
with all valuables in it,
it is quite atractive for thieves.
they could either rip loose the band,
or open the button, so the sac will fall off your shoulder

2. the sack behind my back is a bit too long around the corner,
so it is uneasy when sitting in a chair.

3. did you ever see the similarity with a bombbelt of a suicide attacker?
you could get in crazy situations, people not knowing the product.
my son goes to a jewish kindergarten, where they have security personel

4. i use it under a jacket.
quite discreete, and i like the band going across your breast.
a bit 18th century, i like it.
when i use the stuff i pull the bag forward, just turn it.
turning though is a bit rough on the neck.
if i would design an improvement, i would maybe let the bag slide on the belt.
but then you maybe get other problems.
maybe also i would want to by belts in different colours, nice!

btw. i use it every day. i even use it now.

Clutch

using my son as a model, here is the idea i had before the summer. photoshopped it real quick.

the first is very much like your variobag, but notice it is not a rectangular model but v shaped so it fits
better under the arm, shorter so its not between your back and a (eg. car) chair.
also not meant to be ´vario´

the second is a bit more radical/alternative statement, a band around the shoulder, coming down to the hip, 2 wires / bands going down to a trapesium formed bag.

2 wires because the bag should not twist while walking.
the weight is suspended off the shoulder and bounced off the hip (strongpoints)
try to pickpocket this one!

the army green is the right colour for the gay-afraid hetro guy. yes i think thats a main obstacle still.
but by making tough designs/colours, you will overcome that.

i like the second one most, but maybe it would be difficult to walk with, i dont know.
i had a bit punk/ airtrooperpants vibe with that design.
